Davisms

I've got a lot of catching up to do on this blog. One of the things I have queued up is some quotes from my colleague Dave. Most of these are from a recent three day conference we sponsored for our customer. Dave was the M.C.

Granted, some of these quotes are out of context, but for most of us that know Dave these are classic.

  • Introducing the corporate sponsor, "...here is our token CSC Vice President".
  • Introducing the customer, "...[now] we are going to cover some more mundane topics".
  • Introducing a speaker on Certification & Accreditiation, "...we aren't at the ding, dong the witch is dead moment regarding C&A yet".
  • No, this one is about a day out with his wife, "...yesterday was everything I dreamed of and more".
  • Just pick a topic, "...I'm totally unqualified to talk about that, but I will anyways".
  • A speaker's microphone died and Dave kept his cool, "...they didn't hear you, crap!"
  • Introducing one of the Tech Leads, "...[and here is the] Chief Cook-and-Bottle Washer of our organization.
  • When asked if each of the agencies signed off on this new implementation, "...yeah, we checked with all of [the agencies] and they said it was ok". I'd really like to see that signed document!
  • When giving comments on the technical merits of a failing system, "...be frank, not snarky".

Rounding Third

|

Thanks to the power of Wikipedia we now have a comprehensive list of all the baseball metaphors we used to talk about in our younger years. Some are quite amusing.

If anyone has a good definition for "Rounding Third" go ahead and edit the page and make your contribution to the greater good.

"Twork" It

|

In Beyonce and Slim Thug's latest single called Check On It, she says this:

Dip it, pop it, twork it, stop it, check on me tonight

Twork? If you ever run across a word like this and you have no idea what it means, than the Urban Dictionary is for you. It is one of the few places you can go to find out the meaning of the word gobbler, or the 9 different definitions of the word hay, or the place where all of us live: meatspace.

But I digress. Here is the entry for twork:

1. twork
When a girl shakes her butt against another girl or a man, pressing frimly.
Hey look at dat hoochie moma twork it
2. twork
to work out, particularly a girl's booty for a guy. Referred to when clubbing or working out in the gym.
"twork that body babe", "tworkin out here is great for the body."
I don't know about you, but I try twork it all the time. When is the last time you used the word hoochie moma in a sentence?
